Ordnance Factory Khamaria (OFK)

OFK was set up in the year 1943 during World War-II as one of the Eastern Group Projects to meet the requirements of Ammunition for Allied Forces. After Independence, the product range of the Factory was diversified to meet the operational requirements of different Services and Para Military Forces. During Chinese War in 1962 and Pakistan Wars in 1965 and 1971, the Factory was further expanded to meet the new demands of Army, Air Force and Navy. At present this is the biggest ammunition factory in the country. The present production activity of the Factory is a combination of Hardware Component Manufacturing, Explosive Filling and Ammunition Assembly.

Defensive Mode: In the defensive role, a grenade would be used when enemy troops are in open and own troops are protected by defences. Use of a Fragmenting type (Splintering) Grenade is ideal. Offensive Mode: In the offensive role, a grenade would be used during the final stages of the assault at a distance between 30-50 meters from the line of enemy defences. Invariably enemy troops would be in trenches/ bunkers and own troops in the open. Use of a Blast type (Non Splintering) Grenade would have a greater effect in a confined space like trenches/ bunker

Weapon : BOFORS FH77 B HOWITZER Gun End Use : Surface to Surface Anti-Personal Ammunition used for rapid & accurate firing at long ranges to attack the Ground Targets. Shells can be used together with PD or proximity Fuzes.The shells are filled with TNT Special Grade (Set point 80.60 C) in semi-automatic plant by pour filling method.
