GRENADE 36 M HAND AND TUBE LAUNCHING
This is an anti-personnel ammunition of fragmentation type, generally hand thrown. However, it can also be projected from a Rifle 7.62 mm 1A1 fitted with projector grenade 7.62 mm 1A using Cartridge SA, rifle grenade 7.62 mm HD. (TUBE LAUNCHING).
This bomb is used in 81 mm Mortar which is a light smooth bore, muzzle loading weapon having high angle of fire and capable of a high degree of accuracy. It is a platoon weapon of the infantry. The equipment can be dismantled into 3 loads and can be carried by 3 men. It can be used for firing in battlefields, mountain warfare or air borne operations. This bomb is a high explosive bomb streamlined in shape and is of the fragmentation type. It is fin stabilized and has fuze 162MK-8 at the forward end and a tail unit at the rear. Tail unit takes one primary and eight secondary cartridges. The bomb body is made out of steel (specifications JSS 9510-1) .81 mm Mortar bomb has a special feature i.e. it has 0 to 8 charges i.e. a total of 9 charges.
Ten grenades are hermetically sealed in a steel Box and four such boxes are packed into one carrier. A total of 40 grenades per package. Average gross weight is 53 kgs and the package dimensions are 660 mm x 325 mm x 215 mm.
The packing consists of inner and outer packages. The inner package is a HDPE/LDPE carrier which accommodates two bombs and provides protection during transport and storage in all climatic conditions. This carrier is then packed a study metallic carrier which holds two HDPE/LDPE carriers containing four bombs. Package Dimensions – 460 mm x 300 mm x 240 mm Gross weight- 25 kgs Volume- 0.033 Cu. m
